What to Pack: Gym Bag

Hi friends!

Hope your week is off to a great start. Did everyone watch the bachelorette premier last night?! I went over to my mom’s house and watched it, as is our tradition. We always write down all the contestants and predict our final four. Haha so silly, but fun! Who did y’all like the best? Or the least? I really liked DeMario, Peter, Alex and Bryan. I read some of their bios (I’m lame, I know) and Peter has completed 3 Iron Man’s, one with a broken foot…. now if thats not hot I don’t know what is.

I originally liked Diggy too…. but then I saw all the spelling errors in his bio as well as the fact that he listed “The Devil Wears Prada” as one of his top 3 movies…… ummm ya I’ll leave it at that. lol.

Anyways, let’t talk about packing for the gym! So back when I worked a 9-5 desk job, I used to get up at 5:15am to get to the gym by 6am every morning. I definitely don’t do that anymore now that I work from home, but back then it was such a part of my daily routine that I never thought anything of it.

First off, for any of you who are struggling with your fitness goals or are having a hard time getting yourself in the gym every day, my absolute best tip is to do it early in the morning like this. I know it absolutely SUCKS at first, but I promise after a week or so it becomes habit and your body actually gets used to it.

By no means am I a morning person {ask my fiance} so if I can do it, I swear you can too! The trick is to pop out of bed the second your alarm goes off. Don’t snooze, don’t lay there and think ‘ehhh maybe i’ll skip today’ ….. seriously, just get out of bed.

I used to lay out my workout clothes at the end of my bed so that I could stand there in a daze and immediately start putting on my workout clothes before I even had time to think twice about it. Put your tennis shoes on the floor at the end of the bed as well. Something about putting on your shoes right then and there really just keeps you from saying “screw it” and getting back into bed.

Next up, have your water bottle and a small snack already prepared in the fridge to grab and run out the door. I always had my water-bottle and some piece of fruit in the fridge ready to go the night before so that I could munch on something small in the car on the way there. Or if you are someone who needs coffee first thing (i’m right there with you) have some iced-coffee prepared in the fridge to grab and go. The key is to take the least amount of time getting out the door as possible though, so if you need cream or sugar in your coffee, try to put it in before you even place it in the fridge.

Packing for work: ย Okay here is the biggest thing… Pack your bag for work the night before. I worked out at the lifetime in Dallas which has a really nice changing room so I would just pack everything for work in my bag and get ready at the gym and go straight to work (saves so much time).

As far as clothing items go, hang up your outfit on the hooks in your car before you go to bed or just hang it up by your front door if you prefer not to leave your clothes in your car over-night.

What to pack in your bag:

  1. Hair Straightener/Curling Iron
  2. Makeup
  3. Hair Brush
  4. Dry Shampoo
  5. Deodorant
  6. Face Wash/Shower Gel
  7. Heels/Flats (whatever matches your outfit)
  8. Jewelry
  9. Undergarments *** the most easily forgotten! Prepare your outfit the night before WITH the proper undergarments… nothing is worse than realizing you have the wrong bra after you’re already at the gym.
  10. Protein Powder and Shaker for post-workout nutrition

Favorite Protein at the moment is Vega Sport– It’s seriously delicious and makes you feel good about yourself since it’s made of only natural (plant-based) ingredients. I promise it doesn’t taste green ๐Ÿ˜‰

Shop this protein powder here

Depending on where you workout, you can either go ahead and portion out your almond milk (or other milk of choice) into your shaker and leave in fridge to grab on your way out. It’ll keep just fine at room temperature for the hour that you’re working out (at least almond milk will). Then add your protein powder (I like to order these sample packets) or you can just portion out a scoop into a zip lock baggie and pack it in your bag that way.

Have I left out anything? Links to shop everything in this post are below ๐Ÿ™‚

PS- All of the dresses I’ve linked below are an additional 40% off of the listed price!!!
