My Big Box of Hair Essentials

Hair is such a tricky thing- a good hair day can make you look and feel like a million bucks, but a bad hair day can really kill your vibe and totally ruin your look. Blonde hair in particular can be a huge blessing or a curse. Radiant locks totally capture the attention of everyone in the room, but if you went too heavy on the bleach or too long between root touch-ups, your hair can look like a serious mess.

Over the past year or two, my hair has gradually become less of a golden blonde and more of a brassy blonde, which is not my cup of tea. So between highlighting and teasing it, my hair can look very frail if not treated properly. Here are some of my favorite products to help keep my locks looking extra bright and healthy.

John Freida Lightening Spray: Spray in damp hair before blowdrying for that fresh from the beach look.
Joico Body Luxe: Massage a quarter sized amount of foam in to damp roots, then style with a rolling brush for big hair without the tease! (This is the preferred technique for those of us that love the big hair look….now if only I had time to do this every day)
Aveda Damage Remedy: Squeeze a dime-sized amount of gel into hands and massage through the bottom half of your hair for damage repair and prevention. Sometimes I apply a teeny tiny bit more to my hair after I straighten it if my hair is looking rather limp that day.
Sabastian Potion 9: This is a texturing gel…use sparingly or your hair will feel sticky. I like to add a little of this to the bottom portion of my hair when it’s static-y.
Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo: Whoever invented Dry Shampoo is a god. I use it almost every day, even when my hair is clean. I like to spray it on the under-side of my roots before I tease it. It helps give volume without using so much hairspray.
Baby Powder Dry Shampoo alternative. Blondes only ladies 🙂 Yes, we can tell.
TreSemme Hair Spray: #4 is my favorite hairspray for holding a tease. It’s strong without giving you helmet head.
Bed Head Defrizzer: Helps tame the frizz on hot humid summer days + it smells amazing.

Biotin:Helps hair and nail growth. The one down side- If you have acrylics,be prepared for them to grow out much faster.

Coconut Oil:
Slather coconut oil in your hair prior to washing and your hair will be extra silky + you’ll smell like an island vacation.
