With only ONE WEEK until Christmas, it’s time to start binge watching all the Christmas Movies before its too late! We’ve all probably seen the classics (Home Alone, Elf, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, etc.) at least a billion times over the years, so today we’re talking about some of the lesser-known Christmas Chick Flicks that are available for FREE on Netflix.
THE CHRISTMAS PRINCE
This movie is so cute! Kind of reminds me of a Christmas-y version of ‘The Prince and Me’. Anyone remember that movie? This one is about a female reporter based in New York who’s supposed to be writing a story about a prince in another country. When she arrives to the palace, she is mistaken as the new tutor they hired for the prince’s little sister. In an effort to fulfill her story, she allows them to think she is indeed the tutor so that she can live in the castle with the prince and the royal family. As you probably already guessed- she begins to fall in love with the prince… but will her true identity ruin everything? Or will she be the best thing that’s ever happened to the Royal Families rigid ways? It’s cheesy, but it’s worth watching (by yourself, don’t make your husband/boyfriends suffer through this one).
Okay if you’ve never seen White Christmas, then this needs to be priority #1. Such a classic! It’s basically a musical which centers around two song-and-dance men who meet while serving in the army in Europe. They now perform as a duet on broadway where they meet the beautiful Haynes sisters, who are performers on the run from their landlord. Phil and Bob help the girls make a clean getaway, and then the ladies accompany the fellas to their next engagement, at an obscure and financially strapped Vermont guest lodge. I won’t spoil anymore of the details, just do yourself a favor and watch it if you haven’t already. Its one of mine and my moms favorites!
A Netflix original that just became available! It basically follows the old “true meaning of Christmas” narrative, but it’s worth watching! Again, without your significant other.
“Before ambitious heiress Ellen Langford can inherit her father’s gift business, she must deliver a special Christmas card to her dad’s former partner in Snow Falls, the hometown she never knew. When a snowstorm strands her at the town inn, she’s forced to work for her keep, and in the process, finds romance and discovers the true gift of Christmas.”
THE SANTA CLAUSE
If you’ve seen the second or third rendition of this movie before seeing this one- don’t let the other two deter you. This one is actually really cute! Tim Allen plays Scott Calvin, a man who inadvertently kills Santa Clause on Christmas Eve and is magically recruited to take his place! This one is both cute and funny- you could definitely watch this one with your hubby if you wanted to.
HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS
WHO DOESN’T LOVE THIS MOVIE? I mean Cindy Lou Who is reason enough to watch this movie. However, for those that maybe haven’t seen it, its the Ron Howard adaptation of the Dr. Seuss story. Jim Carey is absolutely hilarious as the Grinch and totally makes the movie worth watching for both kids and adults. The title of the movie pretty much explains it all- but it’s basically Cindy Lou Who’s quest to find the meaning of Christmas.
Okay now on to the good part, the snacks!!
First up- my famous “protein icecream” that everyone keeps asking about! It’s super simple, all you need is…
- A Blender
- Protein Powder
- Almond Milk (or whatever milk you like)
- SF Pudding Mix (sometimes I use vanilla and sometimes I use chocolate)
It’s really more of a shake consistency than an Ice Cream consistency, but I eat it with a spoon so I still call it Ice Cream.
I’ve really been craving a McDonalds Oreo McFlurry lately, so to appease my craving I crumbled up an oreo and mixed it in. Totally hit the spot! If you don’t have any Oreos (the only reason we had some is because Mauricio gave blood on Friday so they gave him a packet of Oreos) but you still wanna add some crunch, crumble up a few pretzels and mix that in- really good!
You could also blend the oreos/pretzels in WITH the rest of the ingredients….so good! I prefer it with the SF Vanilla pudding mix if I do it this way- but its dependent on how much you like chocolate.
There ya have it, a super easy and healthy McFlurry to enjoy during your upcoming Christmas movie binge sessions!
What is your favorite Christmas Movie on Netflix? Has anyone seen all of these?
