Coffee: The Ultimate Workout Enhancer

Hi friends! Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Life has been a little hectic lately. I just accepted a new job handling the Marketing and PR for Diageo Spirits in the Dallas area. I am so so so excited, but also very sad to be leaving my Hyatt family. The boy also just received a new job offer at a more prestigious bank and will be relocating to Chicago within the next few weeks….so lots of changes going on in our lives right now.

Like I’ve said before, I’m a very routine oriented person. When you get me out of my routine I go a little crazy. Typically the only thing that calms me down is exercise… which isn’t always the easiest thing to do when you’re already stressed out to begin with, ya feel me? But trust me- it does help!!
The treadmill and I are on a break right now, I’m all over that Stairmaster game mainly because I can read on my kindle while still maintaining a good pace (book reviews to come soon, I’ve had some good ones). The Lifetime that I go to in Highland Park isn’t one of those big-boxones with pools and lazy rivers and what not, it’s a lot smaller and has a very exclusive feel– which I love. Needless to say- I see the same people pretty much every day. (Side note- Sean and Catherine from the Bachelor work out there…yes, Sean is just as hunky in person)

There is the one woman in particular who I have a total girl crush on because her body is rock solid. One of those bodies that is muscular yet skinny at the same time. Basically every females dream. Oh and she’s got fake tits too. No fair. Lol J

Anyways, she does the Stairmaster at a level 25 for like 2 hours… it’s insane. I’ve noticed she always has 2 water bottles, one of which has a brown colored drink that I can only assume is some sort of iced coffee/espresso? So I wonder- is this her trick for maintaining that level of exertion for such a long period of time? Probably.
Despite a popular belief that caffeine dehydrates you, it’s actually an awesome way to take your workout to the next level. Here are just a few of the benefits coffee can provide:
1.       Forces your body to use fat instead of glycogen for energy
2.       Improves circulation due to increased blood flow
3.       Burns more calories
4.       Reduces brains level of perceived pain
5.       Improves endurance

Basically, coffee takes your workout to the next level. However- if you are like me and get a little faint if you go over-board on the caffeine- make sure to pack a bottle of water too. Maybe switch off between the too?
I’m certainly going to try this trick for the next 2 weeks and see if I notice a difference, I’ll keep yall posted.
xoxo
