29 Weeks today! Eeeep can’t believe how much our little peanut has grown over the past month. We had our first checkup of the third trimester yesterday and the doctor predicted that baby will be in the upper 6 pounds to lower 7’s. Phew! Thats definitely a healthy size we can be happy with, but not too big that I won’t be able to push him out lol.
Mauricio was hoping he would be a bit bigger than that, but as the doctor said “I don’t think her body is meant to push out a 10 pound baby!” Amen.
How far along: 29 weeks today!
Gender: Baby Boy!
How big is baby: baby is now about 2 1/2 pounds (about the size of a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain!
Clothing: Currently living in the Align Leggings by Lulu Lemon, this cardigan, this bralette, and this poncho. (All non-maternity). As far as maternity favorites: these jeans, these spanx, and this dress are all staple pieces.
Sleep: mehhh it depends what day you ask me. Some nights baby is sitting right on my bladder, which makes me feel like I am going to wet my pants 24/7…. so no, those nights I don’t sleep much. Other nights he is nice and sits in the middle of my tummy, which allows me to sleep like a baby.
Mauricio, on the other hand, is super sleep deprived right now. He’s been stuck at the office until 3am every day this week and then comes home to a passed out snoring wife. Poor guy. Normally I’m a super quiet sleeper, but something about pregnancy has caused me to start snoring every night it seems. Fortunately for me I never remember him waking me up. He says that he’ll rub my back and say “Abby you’re snoring” and I’ll say “I’m sorry” and then somehow it actually makes me stop! So at least sleeping Abby is polite. lol.
What am I missing: Anything that involves bending over. Last week I was standing in the shower about to shave and realized I couldn’t really bend over to shave my legs anymore. Pretty much all shaving is done in the bathtub now, otherwise its just not done. Thank goodness for winter!
Taking off boots or putting on any shoe with a buckle has also become quite the chore. When Mauricio and I were in Dallas for the Holidays, we pulled up to a restaurant with valet and I didn’t have my heels on yet. Well, these particular heels had little ankle straps where you had to put the little clasp through the hole (like a watch strap)…. ya, the valet guy stood there waiting for a good 5 minutes as I clamored trying to get them on. #oops
What am I looking forward to: Our baby shower at the end of the month! I can’t wait to see all the itty bitty little baby clothes.
Movement: Oh yes, all the time. For me, he usually starts pushing my stomach outward before kicking, so I always know its coming. Its kind of weird, it feels like he is trying to get out through my belly button- you can physically see my stomach distending!
Cravings: Most of the major cravings have subsided. Now I’m at a point where a lot of things I used to like don’t sound good for some reason. Two things I’ve really been loving are cauliflower mashed potatoes and lentil zucchini pasta! Seriously, pick up both of these the next time you’re at the grocery store. They are in the frozen section next to all the veggies and stuff. And if you only listen to me on one of these- definitely pick up the mashed cauliflower… or like 8. LOL. Can you tell I’m obsessed?
PS- Trader Joes also sells a mashed cauliflower, but its not as good. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Trader Joes, but in this one scenario- theirs aren’t as good.
Also, the mashed cauliflower DOES contain some milk, so if you’re a vegan- sorry. But if you’re someone who just tries to avoid dairy where you can or are sensitive to it, it’s really not much. I’m lactose intolerant and I haven’t had any problems after eating these. Just take a lactose tablet if you wanna be cautious.
How I’m feeling: Good except for occasional back pain (usually when I sit for too long), bleeding gums, and some pains in my rib cage when he gets too high up. I took a spin class this morning and I’m feeling a bit more like myself now that I’ve picked up my workout routine again. (I stopped exercising hardly at all last month). I’m obviously not trying to lose weight, but I spend a lot of time alone which can get a bit depressing at times, so taking workout classes really just helps with my endorphins- not to mention helps ease some of the leg and back pains.
Did I forget anything? Let me know what y’all are wanting to see/know down below! I’m always open to suggestions <3
