How far along: 26 weeks today!
How big is baby: Baby is continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about 1 2/3 pounds and measures 14 inches from head to heel.
Maternity clothes: Still mostly just wearing maternity bottoms and flowy tops or dresses. Oddly enough, thick sweater dresses actually show the bump more than t-shirt style dresses do. I have this one lace trim chiffon dress I’ve been wearing lately that you can hardly tell I’m pregnant in. It’s so weird how different I look in each piece of clothing. I’ll put on one outfit and it’s like ‘woah thats a belly!’ and then another outfit you can’t really tell at all. Weird.
But that just goes to show you that you should never compare the way your pregnancy looks compared to someone else’s. Just because I don’t look as big in some of my pictures doesn’t mean I don’t in fact have a decent size belly on me now. And again, because I know someone will ask, I am by no means trying to hide the fact that I’m pregnant. HOWEVER, the industry I’m in, it just makes it less awkward if I’m not obviously showing while I’m walking around the bar all day. Obviously I’m not drinking the alcohol I represent, but theres always that one rude woman who thinks she’s Mother Teresa telling you you shouldn’t be serving alcohol when you’re pregnant because it sends mixed messages (eyes rolling). Again, so it’s just easier not to show it off to much during the working day if I can avoid it.
Sleep: Ehh it’s hit or miss. Some nights I fall asleep really quickly and sleep like a rock through the night (until 3am when Marley gets on the bed and lays right on my stomach) and other nights I toss and turn for hours. I think I’ve figured out that I can’t have anything sugary close to bedtime- it makes baby boy very antsy in there if I do and then I can’t fall asleep.
Regarding Marley- anyone have a clue as to why she would be doing this all of a sudden? Literally every single night she wakes me around 2-3am and lays right on top of me. She’s always been cuddly with me, but not to the point where she wakes me up in the middle of the night to do it. Is is because of the pheromones?
What am I missing: Being able to button up my jackets! Ugh winter clothes are fitting so awkwardly because if I size up then its too big on my arms but if I buy my normal size then I can zip/button it up. I think it’s time to bite the bullet and buy a maternity coat… (insert hand on face emoji).
Also, missing not having to wear a bra. I HATE undergarments. I used to never have to wear bras or undies (sorry if thats TMI, but I didn’t). Now it’s a non-negotiable…I have to wear both or it’s not a pretty sight.
What am I looking forward to: Going home for Christmas and New Years!! We will be in Texas for 10 days so I’m really excited to just have some down time and relax, as well as spend time with family and friends.
Movement: Oh yes… he is doing all sorts of weird stuff in there. Sometimes my belly balloons out on one side … it’s SO WEIRD. Mauricio will look over and be like ‘Oh no, go back in little guy go back in!’ haha. It actually kind of hurts when he does that too actually… idk if its because he’s stretching my skin too much or what, but it’s much nicer when he just stays in the middle.
Cravings: CHIPOTLE. OMG. I don’t know what was going on with me this week, but I seriously had Mauricio bring home Chipotle after work 3 times this week. So good. I’ve also had a bit of a sweet tooth lately, so i’ve been keeping a little baggy of these in my purse to kick the craving- highly recommend.
How I’m feeling: Ehh definitely starting to have some of the un-pleasant symptoms nows that I’m approaching the third trimester. I carry around my heating pad with me every where I go and when I drive I turn the seat warmers on to try to soothe my back. I can only imagine what it’s going to be like during the 8th month when my stomach is double this size. My little body clearly is not used to all this extra weight in front.
I’ve also been getting some pretty bad stomach aches this past week. I’m thinking I need to start being more cognizant of what I’m eating. Thus far, I’ve been able to eat all of the usual ‘fear foods’ most pregnant women stay away from…. but I think I’ve probably pushed my luck far enough. Last night my stomach was killing me and today I’m dealing with the aftermath of that. Chicken Noodle Soup and gatorade is probably going to be my BFF for the rest of the evening. FUN.
