Bridal Makeup Tips

Hey guys!

My name is Nastaran and I am a makeup artist in Dallas, Tx

Here are the steps and products I used on Abby for her bridal makeup!

I always like to make sure that my bride’s skin is prepped and hydrated before putting any makeup on. To do so I used CHARLOTTE TILBURRY Magic Cream to hydrate her skin and BOBBI BROWN Hydrating Eye Cream to hydrate and prep her under eyes for concealer. Lastly for the skin prep, I used DIOR Glow Addict as her primer, this is a radiance primer and I used this to give her skin that “lit from within” glow. These steps will ensure that the makeup goes on smoothly and doesn’t grab on to any dry areas and it will also keep her makeup lasting all night!

Next, I like to leave the face alone and start doing her eye makeup. Two reasons I like to do this-
1. It allows time for her skin to soak in the moisture

2: Any fall out from the eye shadow can be wiped away without having to worry about ruining the face makeup.

For the eyes we wanted to do a really sultry smoky eye using warm tone browns and a pop of gold on the lower eyelid. To start off the eye look I primed her eyes using the MAC PRO LONGWEAR PAINT POT in Soft Ochre. This step is going to give us a blank canvas to work on (don’t forget to set the primer with a translucent powder or bone color shadow, this allows other colors to blend effortlessly on top).

I warmed up her crease with the KAT VON D Shade and Light palette mainly using the neutral and warm tone colors located on the left and right side of the palette, to give her the pop of gold I dipped in to two different NATASHA DENONA (aka the best shadows in the world) palettes.

Before placing the gold, I used the TOO FACED  Glitter Glue to make sure that there was no fall out of the gold and that all the pigments stuck to the lid. Make sure to do this step one eye at a time as the glue dries fast. I dipped my brush into ‘Sundazed’ in the SUNSET palette and put that all over the inner half of the lower lid, this color alone was a little too gold and I knew Abby wouldn’t have been completely happy with it {she knows me so well ;)} so I dipped in to the NATASHA DENONA Star palette and toned down the gold with the shade ‘Bellatrix’ this is a really pretty pinky rose gold shade.

The two shades together was perfection! I then Smoked out the outer “V” of the eye with the darkest brown in the KAT VON D palette, lined her eyes with the INGLOT gel eyeliner in #77, another trick I love to do is called “tight lining” which is lining the upper waterline with a black eyeliner. This really makes everything look connected and also makes that lashes appear thicker! Yayyy!!

Now lets go back to her face and we’ll finish the eyes last!

For her foundation I cocktailed two different shades of DIOR AIRFLASH in the shade 300 and 301 to give her the perfect shade and I also used the BOBBI BROWN Foundation Stick in the shade Natural 4 to give added coverage in certain areas.

Pro Tip: Make sure to use a foundation that has NO SPF to avoid flashback in photography.

For concealer I used my tried and true TARTE Shape Tape in the shade light to conceal and highlight under eyes. Setting her whole face with LAURA MERCIER Translucent powder. I then bronzed up her face using the BOBBI BROWN Golden Light bronzer, what I love about this bronzer is the neutral undertone that it has (no one likes to be orange) imagine the number 3 on your face and that is where you want to bronze.

Contouring her with the CHARLOTTE TILBURY FILMSTAR BRONZE AND GLOW palette. I then went in with a little bit of blush on the apples of the cheeks. I can’t remember exactly which blush colors I used on her but I know that I mixed 3 different ones in the MORPHE 9N blush palette to get the right color and undertone for Abby. If you can’t tell already, I love to mix colors together to get the look I desire! To highlight I used 3 different highlighters for her face and décolletage (collar bones), I used the ICONIC LONDON liquid illuminator in “Original” for the décolletage and set it with the KYLIE COSMETICS KYLIGHTER in the shade Fiji and for the high points of the face I used the highligher that is in the FILMSTAR palette with a dab of Fiji on top to give her that natural yet beaming radiance.

Ps guys- I was obsessed with what she did here and so glad she thought to put highlighter on my chest/collarbones. It seriously popped so much in pictures and really emphasized my spray tan.

To finish the eyes I used a flat definer brush to place some black eye shadow against the lower lash line and blended it out with a pencil brush and a lighter shade of brown that we had used in her crease to tie everything together. I used MAC CHROMOGRAPHIC pencil in the shade NC15/NC20 to brighten and open her eyes. I used MAYBELLINE waterproof mascara on top before applying lashes and for the lower lashes I used MAC EXTENDED PLAY mascara. I swear by this mascara! It is the only mascara that I have ever used that doesn’t smudge on the lower eye area.

To finish off the whole look I misted MAC FIX+ to make sure everything melts together and that there are no powders sitting on her skin.

I hope I was able to pass along some good tips and tricks!

Bridal makeup is my absolute favorite part of my job. I love making brides feel their absolute best for their big day and being able to do Abby’s makeup for her wedding was really special to me!
